 Q.1. What is Engine Timing?

Ans. Engine timing is the system which synchronies the   motion of the crankshaft and cam shaft. It is of two kinds- Valve timing(cam timimg) and ignition timing.

(यह एक ऐसा सिस्टम है जो कि क्रैंक शाफ़्ट एवं कैम शाफ़्ट की गति में तालमेल बिठाता है, यह दो प्रकार की होती है - वाल्व टाइमिंग(कैम टाइमिंग) और इग्निशन टाइमिंग। )

 Q.2. What is stroboscope lamp/gun? Explain it. (स्ट्रोबोस्कोप लैम्प/ गन क्या है ? इसे समझाएं।)

Ans. Stroboscope is an instrument used to make a cyclically moving object appears to be slow moving or stationary. Stroboscopes are used in timing lights to dynamically set the ignition timing of an otto cycle combustion engine. 

To apparent position of the marks, frozen by the stroboscopic effect, indicates the current timing of the spark in relation to piston position.

This tool is mostly available in torch or gun shape.

( स्ट्रोबोस्कोप एक ऐसा उपकरण है जो साइकिल अनुसार गति करती वस्तु को धीरे से गति करता या स्थिर दिखाता है। स्ट्रोबोस्कोप का प्रयोग टाइमिंग लाइट में ऑटो साइकिल कंबशन इंजन की इग्निशन टाइमिंग को गतिक रूप से सेट करने के लिए किया जाता है।)

 Q.3. How valve timing is checked? (वाल्व टाइमिंग कैसे जाँची जाती है ?)

Ans. 

• First of all, remove the timing cover.
• Then turn te crankshaft pulley with transmission belt.
• Ensure mark on the pulley must align with crankcase mark.
• Ar the same time cam shaft pulley must align with crankcase marking. This indicates proper valve timing.
• सबसे पहले टाइमिंग कवर को हटाएं। 
• इसके बाद क्रैंक शाफ़्ट पुल्ली को ट्रांसमिशन बेल्ट के साथ ही घुमाएं। 
• सुनिश्चित करें पुल्ली का मार्क क्रैंक केस के साथ एक सीध में हो। 
• उसी समय कैम शाफ़्ट, क्रैंक केस की मार्किंग की सीध में हो। यह उचित वाल्व टाइमिंग को दर्शाता है। 

 Q.4. How ignition timing is checked? (इग्निशन टाइमिंग कैसे जाँची जाती है?)

Ans. 

• First of all connect the stroboscope(timing light) as per manual.
• Now hold the stroboscopic lamp near the flywheel and run the engine at idle speed.
• Check timing mark on the flywheel matches with pointer of crankcase housing and at the same time lamp must glow shows the alignment.
• This indicate proper ignition timing.

• सबसे पहले स्ट्रोबोस्कोप(टाइमिंग लाइट) को मैनुअल के अनुसार लगाएंगे। 
• अब स्ट्रोबोस्कोप लैम्प को फ्लाइव्हील के नज़दीक होल्ड करें और इंजन को आइडल स्पीड पर चलाएं। 
• फ्लाइव्हील पर दिए गए टाइमिंग मार्क को क्रैंककेस हाउज़िंग पर दिए गए मार्क से मैच करें, उसी समय उसी लैंप का जलना अलाइनमेंट को दिखाता है। 
• उसी से उचित इग्निशन टाइमिंग प्रदर्शित होती है।
